La Grande, Union County, Oregon Roy Conklin Found Dead Near Union Roy Conklin, 42, 2003 East N. avenue, is dead as the result of an evidently self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mrs. Conklin and his brother Gene B. Conklin of Pendleton found the body Sunday about noon near his automobile which was parked on a Catherine Creek road, Northwest of Hot Lake. The car was 2 ½ miles from the Union highway. Wallowa, Wallowa County, Oregon Gene Conklin Dies At Pendleton Gene Conklin, an attorney of Pendleton, and a native of Wallowa, passed away in Pendleton on Friday, March 19, 1971 following a short illness. He was born in Wallowa in 1919, son of Roy and Jennie Conklin, and graduated from the Wallowa High School. He attended Eastern Oregon College and the University of Oregon. Cove, Union County, Oregon Helen A. [sic – Janet] Conklin, 70, of Conklin Lane, Cove, died at her home yesterday. She had been a resident of the Cove area since 1910. Funeral services are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Cove Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Dudley Johnson, United Methodist Church, will officiate. The dam that impounds the North Fork of Pound Reservoir is situated on the North Fork of the Pound River, approximately 184 miles upstream from the mouth of the Big Sandy River and 1.1 miles upstream from the mouth of the North Fork in Wise County, Virginia. Construction of the dam commenced in 1962. Cemeteries located above the dam and within the impoundment areas were relocated to higher ground, respecting the preferences of the closest living relatives. Detailed records of these relocations are provided here, including the names of the nearest kin at the time of each grave removal.
