Helen Mae Robertson Dies after brief illness; Funeral Services Sunday.
Miss Helen Mae Robertson, 14, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Robertson, died at the Holy Rosary Hospital Friday after an illness of five days. She was taken ill with appendicitis Sunday and rushed to the hospital, where an emergency operation was performed, during which it was discovered that peritonitis had set in, and hope for her recovery was deemed slight. Her father, Traffic Officer J. A. Robertson, was called from La Grande and reached here before she passed away.
Funeral services were held from the St. Matthews Episcopal Guild hall Sunday afternoon, under the direction of Rev. Frederick Marx Barton.
The services were attended by members of the Ontario Girl Scouts, of which she was a charter member, and many of the class of ’32 of Ontario High school to shich she belonged. The pall bearers were boys of the class: Robert Graham, Blaine Breckon, Frank Jenkins, Clyde Huffman, Dean Chobick and Julian Wisdom’ honary pall bearers were from the Girl Scouts. Misses June Higginbotham, Ellen Marie Doolittle. Margaret Laxson, Helen Diven, June Edick, and Freda Harrison.
From LaGrande and Baker came representative peace and traffic officers, associates of Mr. Robertson. Sergeant Huck Lieu. Allen and Traffic Officers Walter Lansing and W. W. Yancey lead the funeral procession.
Besides her parents, Helen Mae is survived by one brother, Harry Donald, and a host of relatives, most of whom are residents of Ontario.
