Adolph Levy Is Dead
Passes Away at Portland Saturday Morning
Mr. Adolph Levy died at The Good Samaretan hospital in Portland at 1 o’clock Saturday morning, the funeral taking place Sunday afternoon from the residence of his brother, Ludwig Levy in Portland. The funeral ceremonies were attended by many friends of the deceased, and immediately thereafter the remains were taken to Ahavi Sholem cemetery for Interment, where appropriate Masonic ceremonies were performed. Mr. Levy was well known in mercantile circles of Oregon, coming to the state when it was yet in its infancy and engaging in business at Oregon City.
He came to Union in 1878 and engaged in the mercantile business, in which business he remained until became seriously afflicted with disease something over a year ago when he retired, disposing of his business to his sons, Leon and Milton.
Mr. Levy has always been an honored, highly respected citizen and at the time of his death was a member of the city council of Union. He leaves a widow and eight children to mourn his loss. The loss of Mr. Levy will be greatly felt in this community. The sympathy of the people goes out to Mrs. Levy and children in this bereavement.
