Funeral Services For Harlan Graham Held Here Monday.

Funeral services for Harlan L. Graham, life-long resident of Elgin, were held from the Elgin Nazarene Church Monday, March 1, at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Graham died February 26 at the age of 80 years, following an extended illness.

Rev. Leonard Gallivan officiated at the last rites, with the arrangements under the direction of the Daniels Funeral Home of La Grande. Mrs. Dorothy Gallivan, accompanied by Mrs. Mable Bendshalder at the organ sang three songs, In the Garden, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere, and Till we Meet Again.

Pallbearers were Orville Wayt, Jack trump, Lyle Boswell, Lloyd Anthoney, George Carroll and Wes Leonard. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery.

Harlan Lee Graham was born at Elgin April 30, 1884, the son of Mr and Mrs. Frank Graham, early settlers here. As a young man, Harlan worked with his father in buying and selling cattle.

He learned the meat-cutting trade, which he enjoyed and was employed in several local butcher shops through the years. During his later years he farmed on the place southeast of Elgin on Clarks Creek, where he lived for over 40 years. He and his father operated a small dairy there.

Harlan Graham was married to Mary Ellen (Mayme) Allen on October 8, 1908, and she survives her husband.

Also surviving are two children, Frank Graham of Rockaway , Ore., and a daughter, Mrs. Frieda Boswell of Elgin; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Bauer of San Bernadino Calif., Mrs. Nellie Massey of Corvallis; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
