Milo J. “Bill” Goss, 82, of La Grande died Aug. 5 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday Aug. 10 at the Summerville Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at 5 p.m. at the home of Mark Goss, 62769 Booth Lane.

Mr. Goss was born Dec. 31, 1923, to M.J. Goss III and Ada Frances Colt Goss in La Grande. He graduated from La Grande High School in 1941 and then from the University of Oregon. He served in the Army during World War II, and on Sept. 7, 1948, he married Donna Knight in La Grande.

He owned and ran the family business, M.J. Goss Motor Co., and worked until the day he died. He loved his work. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting chuker and pheasant. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Richland, traveling, especially to Baja California, Mexico, and the Oregon Coast, and being with his family. He collected model cars, and was well known for his one-liners. He was a life member of the La Grande Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his children, Garnet Luciano of Boston, Mass., Milo Goss of Enterprise, Mark Goss of La Grande and Susie Hughes of La Grande; a brother, Robert Goss of La Grande; a sister, Milodene Groupe of Tigard; nine grandchildren; and other relatives. His wife; a daughter-in-law, Debra Goss, a granddaughter, Kailee Bolen, and a brother, Kenton Goss, all died earlier.

Contributions may be made to the Donna J. Goss Memorial Medical Assistance Fund for members of the community in need of assistance in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St.
