Gertrude Ida Davis, 94, a former Baker County resident, died April 29, 2007, at Hospice House in Kennewick, Wash., surrounded by family.
Her graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Summerville Cemetery. Visitations will be from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St., in La Grande.
She was born Feb. 15, 1913, at Sumpter to John Thomas and Pearl Caroline Foster Shields. She was married to Rolla Mack Davis on Oct. 14, 1935, at Weiser, Idaho. He was a wonderful husband and father for 59 years.
Gertrude was a nursing assistant at Valley View Manor until her retirement. She loved to read, enjoyed oil painting, and made many afghans over the years for each of her grandchildren, and she loved to swim at the Natatorium in Baker City.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Davis and his wife, Myrna, of Gresham, John Davis and his wife, Terry, of Elgin, and Keith Davis of Florida; daughters, Christine Showalter and her husband, John, of Ketchikan, Alaska, Pamela Quintero and her husband, Roy, of Kennewick, Wash.; a sister, Lavina Balch of Baker City; and 16 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Foster Shields and Jack Shields; and sisters, Fay Liden and Junia Love; and granddaughter Amanda Gurr.
