Deltah M. Crimmins, 89, of McMinnville and formerly of Elgin, died Jan. 6 at Oakwood Country Place. Visitation will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Chapel of Macy and Son, 135 N. Evans St., in McMinnville. Graveside service begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at McBride Cemetery with Rev. Kent Savage officiating. Burial will be at McBride Cemetery in Carlton.
Deltah was born Dec. 13, 1918, to Eldon and Gladys McClune Hartley in Elgin. She was raised and went to school in Elgin. She moved to McMinnville in 1941 and married Darrell Crimmins on July 8, 1945. During World War II, she worked for the post office in McMinnville. She also worked for Oregon Mutual Insurance, General Hospital and McMinnville Hospital, Montgomery Ward, JC Penney, Scott’s Funeral Home, Miller’s Department Store and Mode-O-Day Women’s Apparel.
She was a life member of the VFW, president of the VFW Auxiliary for seven years and a district VFW Auxiliary president. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of the Braids and Braves square dancing club and Trail Dusters RV Club. She enjoyed quilting, oil painting, traveling, games, playing the organ and piano and family get-togethers.
Survivors include daughters Darla Gregory of McMinnville and Maris Crimmins of Salem; sister, Adell Hodney of Eugene; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Darrell, in 1998; three sisters, Genevieve Fletchall, Myrl Masters and Dollie Taylor; and brother, Darrill Hartley.
