Cherokee Advocate

Last Updated on July 6, 2017 by Dennis

The Cherokee Advocate was published at Tahlequah by the Cherokee Nation 1844-1906. The Nations first publication was the Cherokee Phoenix, in both Cherokee and English. News items taken from the Cherokee Advocate.

We hope you will be able to find some mention of your ancestors. We do have a Biography Database for Native Americans that you can search, and at the bottom of most pages you can ask questions.

I have highlighted some of the features of the papers.  There is much more listed on each page.

Our thanks to Fran Alverson Waren for providing these transcripts.  For more information about Fran transcripts, please visit her website at Crawford County Arkansas.
