Biographical Sketch of Margaret Russell LaHay

(See Grant) Joseph Martin, son of John and Helen Marr (Martin) La Hay, was born August 27, 1864 at Boggy Depot in the Choctaw Nation.

He married November 10, 1386 at Richmond, Missouri, Annie Russell, born December 12, 1864, at Wishaw, Scotland.

They were the parents of Margaret Russell La Hay, born July 26, 1890, at Claremore. She was educated in the Claremore public schools, Drury College, Springfield, Missouri, and Mary Baldwin Seminary, Staunton, Virginia.

Mrs. La Hay is a member of the Presbyterian church and is at present a clerk in the Union Agency at Muskogee.

Joseph Martin La Hay, the Father of Miss Margaret, was a man of splendid intellect, pleasing personality, and genial character. He held at different times the highest offices in both the Masonic and Knights of Pythias fraternities. He was Clerk and Senator of Cooweescoowee District.
