Robert, son of William Gifford, was born in 1660, removed to Dartmouth, Massachusetts, where he erected a homestead on the estate deeded to him by his father, and died in 1730. He married (first) Sarah, born February 2, 1658, died 1724, daughter of Stephen and Sarah (Briggs) Wing; (second) Elizabeth .
