9. DAN WHEELER5 COLE (Daniel4-3, Ebenezer2, Ephraim1) was b. in Plainfield Jan. 18, 1826; m. April 2, 1849, Philena A. Spencer of Plainfield, dau. of Archibald Spencer, b. in 1826 and d. Jan. 23, 1892. They came to Cornish in 1850 and settled on the Thomas Ayers place where they lived many years and then returned to Plainfield where they both d. He d. June 28, 1881. One child, b. in Cornish:

LYDIA ANN, b. Jan. 6, 1852; m. first, Walter Symonds and by him had two children: 1. Lena Spencer, b. June 5. 1871. She m. — Hawkins. She d. in Boston April 19, 1909. 2. Junius -Wheeler, b. Aug. 13, 1873: m. March 30, 1909, Gertrude E. Westgate of Plainfield, dau. of Edward J. and Mary (Bean) Westgate, b. July 2, 1884. He is mail driver from Cornish Flat to Windsor, 1909-. The marriage proving unfortunate, a div. was obtained by her, she retaining the custody of the two children, and by act of the legislature, she resumed her maiden name, and the names of her children were changed to Cole. She m. second, May 11, 1881, Melvin Walker of Cornish, and by him had one child, Stella E., b. Feb. 5, 1889. (See Walker.) They live near the town line of Claremont.
