I am trying to find a service record for my cousin who I believe was a pilot who went down in the Atlantic in WW2. His name is James Donnelly jr. His birth date is 26 Jan 1920. I don’t know the date he died but I believe it was 1942. He was a resident of New Jersey. I have found only the following entry in “State Summary of War Casualties — New Jersey” — DONNELLY, James J., Jr., Pfc., USMCR. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Donnelly, Sr., 48 Neptune St., Jersey City, NJ (na)
You can get a service members record (if you’re eligible) here: https://www.usa.gov/military-records
Thanks Dennis. My problem is any application for a service record requires a service number, which I don’t have. I’m going to contact the archives in Virginia to see if they can help.
