Charles Homer Cuykendall, 74, formerly of 3175 Swartz Rd. who had been living with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Barron of 2545 Yargerville Rd., died of a heart ailment at 10:45 a.m. yesterday [April 28, 1970] in Mercy Hospital where he had been since April 6. He had been in poor health for two years.
Friends may call after 7 tonight in the Earle Little Funeral Home where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Nelson Swinehart of the Carleton Community Church will officiate and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, LaSalle.
The son of Frank and Laura Cuykendall, he was born November 8, 1895 in Rhodehouse, Ill. He married Eveline Boughton, November 4, 1914 in Detroit and they came to Monroe from there in 1927. He had been a tool and die maker for the Monroe Tool an Die Co. until his retirement in 1960. Mr. Cuykendall died November 12, 1964.
Surviving are 4 sons, LeRoy of Salle, Ralph of Port Townsend, Wash., Charles of Carleton and Erwin of Temperance; 5 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Catherine) LaFlure of Monroe, Mrs. John (Evelyn) May of Spencer, Ohio, Mrs. Richard (Gloria) Barron of LaSalle, Mrs. James (Florence) Guy of Carleton and Mrs. Andrew (Barbara) Lashinsky of Secane, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Rose Rosemeier of Indianapolis, Ind.; 44 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.
