Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Louis R. Bloom Dies On His Way To South Louis R. Bloom, a native son of Wallowa valley, died at Goldendale, Washington, Wednesday, December 22, 1937. He was on his way from Yakima, where he had lived for three years, to souhtern California where Mrs. Bloom had gone a few weeks before. Summerville, Oregon Joyce Viola Baxter, 86, of Summerville, died Sept. 22 at a local care center. A service will be held later in Yakima. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements. Joyce was born on June 4, 1921, to Henry Harry and Hilda (Hall) Brown in Leicester, England. She was raised and educated in England. During World War II she enlisted in the British WAAF, serving in London with the balloon barrage troops. Ada C. Cooke, 89, formerly of 103 S. Clark in Kittitas, died Friday at Haven House Nursing Home [died May 22, 1981]. She was born in Lincoln, Neb. on Aug. 3, 1891. She came to Ellensburg from Cle Elum in 1905 with brother Orval and her father, A. E. Rich. The family worked first for the Barnharts and later rented the property northeast of Ellensburg known as the Smyth Panhandle Ranch. She and Edward V. Cooke were married in 1908. Clarence R. (Bud) Hayes, a son of pioneer Kittitas Valley parents, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima Monday at the age of 65. He had been hospitalized for three weeks and had been in failing health for about a year. Hayes was born at the family home in the Denmark district Dec. 13, 1891, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James T. Hayes, who settled on the ranch in 1883.
