Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon The death of Mrs. Emma Rundall Fisher occurred at a LaGrande hospital to which she was rushed from her home in Enterprise, after a severe illness of long duration which required an operation from which she did not recover. Mrs. Fisher was an early pioneer coming to this valley and locating with her family near Union and with her husband, Hiram Fisher, moved to Cove where they resided until going to Enterprise some 35 years ago. While growing up in Enterprise, favorite childhood memories included entertaining the neighborhood by playing the piano with Orva and Bernice McFetridge on violin. She also won the Charleston dance contest in high school and played piano for the silent movies. Paradise, Oregon Grandpa Sturm passed away Sunday Sept. 25, 1921, after a serious illness of several days, while for months he has been in the very poorest of health. He was one of the old pioneer settlers of the north end, being 88 years old. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, four sons, Chas., Henry and Orlando Sturm, who live in Paradise, a daughter, Mrs. Lake Osbourne of Alberta, and several grandchildren besides a host of friends, who extend the sorrowing relatives their sympathy in their bereavement. For many years was engaged in the operation of a large sheep ranch in Wallowa county, is one of the substantial residents of Joseph, where he is now living retired. He was born in Madison County, Indiana, on August 7, 1862, the eldest and only surviving child born of the marriage of William and Mary (Fox) Makin. Leap, Wallowa County, Oregon Hiram W. Meek, a resident of the Leap section since 1891, died at the Wallowa hospital last Friday, July 18, 1924. He had been ill for a few months but his condition did not become serious until a week before he passed away. Bladder trouble was the cause of death. Warren Jauregui, 76, recently of Enterprise, died on Feb.12, 2008, in his hometown of Vista, Calif. He was surrounded by his family and dear friends. A graveside ceremony took place on Feb. 21, 2008. He was a ranch hand, sheepherder and packer by trade, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and B.P.O.E.
