Conley, Isabel Frances – Obituary

Cove, Union County, Oregon

Isabel Frances Conley, 62, died June 10 at Grande Ronde Hospital following a brief illness. A Cove resident, she had been a teacher there and in Wallowa County.

She was born Nov. 14, 1910 at Aumsville, the daughter of Edward and Katherine Heger. The family later settled in Joseph.

Mrs. Conley graduated from Eastern Oregon College in 1930, and taught school in Wallowa County for about 10 years.

She married Merrell F. Conley of Cove in 1940, and lived on the Conley ranch ever since. Mrs. Conley was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church; Daughters of the Nile, Nida Temple; the Cove Library Guild and was Cove Chairman for the Oregon Heart Association.

Survivors include her husband, Merrell; a son, Frank, La Grande; daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Johnson, teacher at Cove; a brother, Paul Heger of Ellensburg, Wash.; a sister, Sr. Anne Heger of Seattle and uncles Nicholas Rollinger, Sunnyside, Wash. And August Rollinger, Laguna Hills, Calif.

A Christian Wake service will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Msgr. George A. Murphy officiating. Requiem Mass will be conducted at the church Wednesday, 10 a.m., Fr. Robert Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Cove Cemetery.

Those who wish may contribute to the Oregon Heart Association or the Shriner Crippled Childrens Hospital in memory of Isabel Conley. Contributions may be made through Dempsey’s Funeral Chapel.

Friends may pay their respects at Dempsey’s Funeral Chapel Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until 9:30 a.m.
