Lulu Thompson Dies in La Grande Enterprise, Oregon Mrs. Roy M. (Lulu W.) Thompson of Enterprise passed away on Tuesday December 9, 1975 at the Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande. She had been in failing health for the past year. She was the daughter of Marion and Hattie Coverdale and was born near Joseph on August 25, 1896. She was married to Roy M. Thompson on December 14, 1973 at Philomath. She was a member of Silver Lake Rebekah Lodge 121 of Joseph. Wallowa, Oregon Rose Marie Schaeffer Rose Marie Schaeffer, 80, of Wallowa died Aug. 31 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise. Burial was at Bramlet Cemetery. Bollman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Schaeffer was born Oct. 2, 1925, to Silas Oliver and Minnie Belle Weaver Barnes in Paradise. She married Don Schaeffer in 1946, and was a homemaker and a bookkeeper, and will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her love of animals. Jessie Thornburg Services Today Enterprise, Oregon Mrs. Jessie Thornburg, a pioneer of Wallowa County, passed away early Tuesday morning at Wallowa memorial Hospital where she had been since Friday morning when she fell at her home and broke her hip. Funeral services for Mrs. Lulu Jane Harrison, 73, a resident of Eagle Valley who died Tuesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Hospital, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Beatty Chapel. Elvin Willard Allen died Jan. 30, 1996, at the home of his great-niece, Julie Wetzel. He was 93 years of age. He was born Feb 28, 1903 in Wallowa, the second son of Jess and Daisy Allen of Middle Valley. He lived on the family farm until the 1930’s when he moved to Newport. He was a carpenter by trade and he served in World War II where he helped with building projects on various islands after they were bombed. Arthur E. Cousins, 93, a retired sheepherder and farmer, died Aug. 16 at the local hospital. He was the son of Samuel J. and Elizabeth Cousins and was born April 24, 1877 in Pickrell, Neb. He came to Wallowa County 83 years ago. Graveside services were today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. in the Enterprise cemetery, with Rev. Lester T. Wells officiating. He has no known survivors.
