Price, Sylvia Ruth – Obituary
Sylvia Ruth Price, 85, of La Grande, passed away at home on March 24. A funeral service will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in La Grande. Born on January 5, 1923, in Cresco, Iowa, she was the eighth of twelve children. During her life, she worked various jobs, including at a defense plant during WWII. She married Harvey in 1945 and managed several cafés and retirement homes. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and traveling. She is survived by her son Neil and family.
Biography of Colonel John Feudge
Colonel John Feudge, born in Waterford, Ireland, in 1824, emigrated to the U.S. with his family as a child. He began his career in the printing industry before venturing westward to Iowa and later Texas, where he faced threats from secessionists during the Civil War. A steadfast Union supporter, he joined the Army, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and served in numerous campaigns until his discharge in 1865. Post-war, Feudge became an Indian agent in Arizona and later settled in California with his wife and four children.
