Ronald Lee Long, 67, of Louisville, Ky., and formerly of Union County, died Aug. 2 at Hospice of Louisville. A memorial service was held Aug. 5 at Evangel Christian Life Center in Okolona, Ky.

Ron was born July 8, 1940, to Ralph and Eva Long in Imbler. He grew up in the Grande Ronde Valley. He worked on several farms during his teenage years and graduated from La Grande High School where he played football and other sports.

Ron was in the Air Force, serving as a radar operator in the Pacific Islands. In 1964 he married Fay Quebbeman in Louisville. They raised their children there. Ron was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed fishing on the Snake River and hunting in Oregon.

Survivors include sons, Tony and his wife, Lisa, and Terry and his wife, Angela, all of Louisville; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Fay (Quebbeman) Long on May 28, 2007; his parents; and two brothers.
