La Grande and Union
1913-2004
Edith M. Bodyfelt, 91, of La Grande and formerly of Union, died May 22 at a local care center. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. June 5 at the Tillamook Odd Fellows’ Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Carter of the Nestucca Valley Presbyterian Church officiating.
Mrs. Bodyfelt was born March 30, 1913, to Homer and Nora Marian Cheney in New Plymouth, Idaho. She graduated from Union High School in 1931, and married Guy E. Watts in September of that year in Union.
In 1959 the couple moved to Pacific City where they had a restaurant. After her husband’s death in 1965 she worked as a cook and at Lincoln City Hospital as head dietitian. In November 1967 she married Walter Bodyfelt. She enjoyed gardening, travel, looking after children and being with her family.
Survivors include children, Marla Williams of Beaverton, Melba Wagner of Imbler, Bob Watts of Tucson, Ariz., and Deanna Robinson of Newberg; stepchildren, Floyd Bodyfelt of Corvallis, Bob and Richard Bodyfelt, both of Portland, George Bodyfelt of Cloverdale and Larry Bodyfelt of Rock Springs, Wyo.; 33 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and other relatives. Her husband, a son, Douglas Watts, two sisters, three brothers and a grandson all died earlier.
