HON. PETER G. STEWART. – Peter Grant Stewart was born on the 6th of September, 1809, in Stanford, Delaware County, New York. When eight years of age he moved to Jefferson, Scohane County, where he received a common-school education, and learned the trade of a watchmaker. He followed the occupation of watchmaker and jeweler in Middlebury until the spring of 1838, when, with a selected stock of watches, jewelry, etc., he started for the West, going by way of Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Toledo and Fort Wayne to Mount Vernon, Indiana, and from there to Morganfield, Union County, Kentucky, where he

Formerly of Union 1934-2004 James Keith Delaney, 69, of Pacific City and formerly of Union died May 24. A memorial service will take place 2 p.m. June 12 at the Central Building, Pacific City. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery. Mr. Delaney was born Oct. 7, 1934, to Roy Eldred and Vennie Florence Brown Delaney in Union. He graduated from Union High School and in 1955 he married Cheryl Sue Forsythe. La Grande and Union 1913-2004 Edith M. Bodyfelt, 91, of La Grande and formerly of Union, died May 22 at a local care center. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. June 5 at the Tillamook Odd Fellows’ Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Carter of the Nestucca Valley Presbyterian Church officiating. Mrs. Bodyfelt was born March 30, 1913, to Homer and Nora Marian Cheney in New Plymouth, Idaho. She graduated from Union High School in 1931, and married Guy E. La Grande, Oregon Terrance “Terry” Lee Twedt, 72, of Pacific City and formerly of La Grande, died at his home April 21 surrounded by family. A life celebration reception will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kiawanda Community Center in Pacific City. Terry was born July 14, 1935, to Irvin and Virgie (Wilson) Twedt in Omaha, Neb. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. In 1961 he married Karin Lee Twedt in Portland. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Oregon State University and worked in management with Boise Cascade in La Grande and
La Grande, Oregon Rose M. Allen, 97, formerly of La Grande, died Oct. 21 at her home in Bend. Autumn Funerals in Bend is in charge of arrangements. She was born Sept. 30,1912, to John and Barbara Kline in Vancouver, Wash. She married Verne A. Allen May 31, 1941. They moved to La Grande in September 1960. During the next 20 years she worked for several doctors and the Saint Joseph Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. During that time she became involved with the La Grande Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf with her husband and with her female friends.
