Old Ebenezer Church, Effingham County GA – 1773 Burials

Barbara Koergter, 60 years old, died at 11 o’clock in the night of Dec. 31, and was buried on New Year’s Day in the cemetery at Zion.

Elizabeth Zant, 26 years old, died Jan. 1, 1773, and was buried the next day in the cemetery at Ebenezer. Funeral text: Hosea 13:14.

Hanna Marg. Remshardt and Christine, her child of a week, both died Jan. 31, 1773, and were buried the next day in Zion.

Mary, wife of Joseph Schubtrein, died Feb. 6, 1773, and was buried the next day at Zion.

William Makai, a child of 3 months, died Jan. 29, 1773, and was buried on the 30th.

John Heinle’s stepson of John George Schneider, died in the month of March, 1773, and was buried the next day, but no notice was given here.

David Steiner’s child of a week died April 3, and was buried the following Sunday at Zion.

Hannah, daughter of John Scheraus, 10 years old, died April 14, and was buried the next day.

John Ulrich Fezer died suddenly April 19, and was buried the next day at Ebenezer.

Anna Barbara, daughter of Frederick Epinger, died May 28, 1773, and was buried the same day at Bethany.

Hannah Norssler died Aug. 16, 1773, and was buried the next day here in the town.

Hannah Margaret Kraemer died Sept. 6, 1773, and was buried the next day.

Margaret Niess, a widow 66 years old, died Oct. 10, 1773 early, and was buried the same day.

Jacob Gnann, 44 years old, died Oct. 13, 1773, and was buried the next day.

Christian Steiner’s little son died Oct. II, 1773, and was buried the next day at Zion.

Jacob Gnan in Bethany died Oct. 14, 1773, and was buried the same day. Funeral text: Ps. 90.

Rachel Mohr died Oct. 28 as one who, 15 years ago, was excommunicated on account of adultery which she confessed to me, and was buried Oct. 29 without the presence of the teacher, although there was preaching to the hearers present.

John Floerl, a child of 4 years, died Nov. 15, 1773, and was buried the next day.

Johanna Hangleiter, 4 years old, died Nov. 23, 1773, and was buried the same day.

Johanna Fredericka Niess, 4 years old, died Nov. 25, 1773, and was buried the next day.

Ursula Hangleiter, 44 years old, died Dec. 6, 1773, and was buried the same day. Funeral text: I Pet. 1: 17, 18.

Hannah Floerl, 30 years old, died Dec. 12, 1773, and was buried the next day.
