Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, Oregon

There is a cemetery located near Homestead on State Highway No. 86 about half way between Copperfield and Homestead on the Snake River. It is near the road in plain sight. We have been unable to learn the official name of the cemetery so will call it the Copperfield-Homestead Cemetery. The cemetery was established shortly after the Iron Dyke mine was started around 1900. The grounds are neglected, we learn of no custodian for this cemetery. graves are sunken, there are wooden headboards only in this plot. Boyer Family Cemetery, Baker County, Oregon

About three miles from Herford on the Fred Boyer ranch, there is a small burial plot. It is two miles off State Highway No. 7 (Unity Highway) and on the opposite side of Burnt River. Thomas Boyer donated the land for this small cemetery. To reach it you take a dirt road at Hereford, cross to the south side of the river and turn to the west. Audrey is a former post office located at the junction of the North Fork of the Burnt River and China Creek. About 3-1/2 miles south and east is a cemetery called Big Flat. It is reached by driving west of Hereford on State Highway No. 7 approximately 4 1/2 miles where a county road leads northwest to Whitney. Auburn is a former mining town and was the seat of Baker County from 1862 to 1868. It is reached by taking State Highway No. 7 out of Baker for seven miles to its junction with a dirt road south of Baker. Turn right on this road along Blue Canyon Creek about three miles. Auburn is to the right and the cemetery is one mile beyond on a hill overlooking the town. Approximately fourteen miles southeast of Baker, the Alder Creek Cemetery is located about three miles off U. S. Highway No. 30 on a high dry sagebrush bench. It is approximately three miles south of Pleasant Valley. The land for the cemetery was donated by an early settler of the area by the name of Johnson. There are twenty-six graves in the cemetery including several wooden markers with no names or on which the names are no longer legible.
