Hosea H. Stout, Jr., a resident of Lindsay, died there Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000. He was 77. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery, with Alan Savage, president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3608, officiating.
Mr. Stout was born in Mansfield, MO. He was a graduate of Strathmore Union High School. He was a retired foreman employed by Lindsay Olive Growers for 15 years. He was a resident of Lindsay for 67 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 128 and the Lindsay-Strathmore area Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3608 in Exeter.
He was a veteran of the Army having served during World War II with General George Patton’s 3rd Army Corp in the 8th Armored Division. He was at the Siegfried Line battle, the Battle of the Bulge and the D-Day allied invasion in Normandy.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Stout of Lindsay; a son, Michael Stout of Strathmore; two daughters, Kathryn Cassida of Lucerne Valley and Cynthia Crist of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Stout in 1983. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb-Sanders Funeral Home.
