Eva R. Colpitts, 97, of Enterprise died Oct. 29 at the Wallowa Valley Care Center in Enterprise. There will be a celebration of life at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise with Dr. Craig Strobel officiating. Burial will be in a private vault at the Enterprise Cemetery.
Mrs. Colpitts was born in Cliffs, Wash., Dec. 6, 1908, to Stephen Douglas Cox and Ethel Mae Washburn. She was raised by Orris and Effie Gorsline of Joseph after the death of her mother in 1910. She attended Pleasant Center School and Joseph High School.
On Jan. 9, 1927, she married Edmund Perry Colpitts in La Grande. They farmed on Upper Prairie Creek until 1936, when the moved to California and worked on ranches. In 1942 they moved back to Eagle Point, where they had a small farm. In 1948 they purchased a tavern in Central Point and later bought interest in the 21 Club in Medford. After her husband’s death in 1959, she operated the club until 1973. She lived in Medford until 2002 when she returned to Enterprise.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers and sisters.
