JAMES BALLOCH was b. in 1761 in Antwerp, Stirlingshire, Scotland. He came to this country in 1790, and came to town soon after. He m. Nov. 10, 1796, Sarah Chase of Cornish. dau. of Samuel. 3d, and Elizabeth (Leet) Chase, b. Aug. 15. 1775, and d. Nov. 26, 1840. He d. Feb. 27, 1831, aged 70. A farmer and settled one of the river farm„ in Cornish, south of Windsor. One authority sacs he lived in West Claremont for a time in a house subsequently occupied by his second son. Children, all said to have been b. in Cornish:
i. JAMES, b. April 19, 1797; m. Oct. 2, 1821, Maria Aletta Dean of Claremont. He d. Sept. 4, 1828.
2. ii. GEORGE WILLIAMSON, b. Dec. 26, 1798.
iii. MARY, b. Dec. 9, 1800; d. unm. (?) Nov. 1, 1825.
iv. FRANCIS ALLAN, b. Oct. 27, 1803; m. April 26, 1829, Mary Spaulding of Hartland, Vt. Two children: 1. Charles, of Lynn, Mass. 2. Alice, who m. a Corson and lives in Salem, Mass. He d. in April (or July), 1862.
v. MARGARET, b. March 26, 1806; d. May 12, 1827.
vi. CHARLES, b. Nov. 10, 1809; d. April 3, 1834.
vii. SARAH J., b. Feb. 9, 1812; m. , Abram Maynard. Four children. Res., Templeton, Mass. She d. Nov. 26, 1840, aged 65.
viii. JANETTE, b. Nov. 2, 1814; d. Aug. 26, 1816.
