Miller, Dr. Charles ‘Chuck’ Dennis- Obituary

Dr. Charles ‘Chuck’ Dennis Miller, 62, resident of The Dalles, Ore., passed away in his wife’s arms, surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in The Dalles with Rev. Doug Marquradt officiating.

Chuck was born on Dec. 31, 1944, in Detroit, Mich., to Charles Dorrington and Maude (Cary) Miller.

He was raised in Baker City, Ore., where he graduated from high school in 1962. Chuck served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972, with two tours in Vietnam. He graduated from Eastern Oregon University in 1974 and then OHSU School of Dentistry in 1979. Dr. Miller practiced general dentistry in The Dalles for 28 years, retiring in August 2006. He was admired and loved by many.

He was a family man who loved golf, fishing, hunting, and boating. He was an avid private pilot, enjoyed scuba diving, basketball, snow skiing and many other sports. He was an Elks member for 40 plus years, a member of the VFW, past President of The Dalles Rotary Association, a Paul Harris Fellow, The Dalles Yacht sponsor for 15 years, and a member of Rocky Mt. Elk and Mule Deer Foundations. Chuck was very involved with The Dalles Police Department Reserve unit and Special Emergency Response Team (SERT,) volunteering over 4,000 hours in the past 16 years and awarded the “Police Officer of the Year’ for 2006. He also served as Deputy Medical Examiner for Wasco and Sherman Counties, and was involved in Forensic Odontology.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Kathryn “Kate” Miller of The Dalles; son, Jeffrey Miller and wife Rachael of Troutdale, Ore.; three step children, Heidi, Beaulier and husband Chris of Winterport, Maine; Aaron Ingebo and wife Holly of Little Rock, Ark., Paul Ingebo of The Dalles; grandchildren, Jacen Miller, Greta Miller, Blake Leavitt, Ryan and Jacob Beaulier, Aidan and Alec Ingebo, Noah Pilcher and Jordon Ingebo; sister, Patricia Spivey and husband, Clyde of Baker City; brother, David Oliver and wife Lynn of Edmonds, Wash.; nephews, Terry Mitchell, Bob Mitchell, Tom Supan, and Chris Oliver; nieces, Tammy Curry and Deb Koopman; extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
