Enterprise, Oregon Elmer R. Collins, of Republic, Wash., died on June 16, 2007, in Renton, Wash. He was 75. Mr. Collins was born in Minam to Lloyd and Irene Collins on Dec. 20, 1931. He attended schools in Enterprise and Milton Freewater. He joined the Army in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1952 as a staff sergeant. He met and married Kathryn Ann Deaver, in Walla Walla, Wash. and they were married in 1953, where the couple lived for a few years. The couple had two daughters. Lauretta Cross, of Milton-Freewater and a former resident of Wallowa County, died July 9, 2007, at Walla Walla General Hospital in Walla Walla, Wash. She was 85. Mrs. Cross was born June 19,1922, in La Grande to James Everett and Etta Rebecca Berg Rachau. The family resided on Pumpkin Ridge, outside of Elgin. They later moved to Minam, where Mrs. Cross attended school through the second grade. Ruth Eleanor Daniels Cronin died Sept. 18, 2005, at the hospice in Kennewick, Wash. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Cronin was born Dec. 2, 1906 in Raton, New Mexico Territory to William A. Daniels and Caroline Gellermann Daniels. She attended high school in Enterprise. In 1926 she married Walter Cronin of Enterprise and moved to Clarkston, Wash., where they lived for over 50 years. Charles (Chuck) Ackley, Enterprise, died at his home on Williamson Road on Feb. 7. 1991. He was born on Sept. 25, 1923 in California. Mrs. Sarah Ann Hastings, 81, resident of Walla Walla for several years, died at her home, 9 North Spokane Street, Wednesday evening [July 1] following six months of failing health. Mrs. Hastings was the widow of William Hastings who died here in December of 1934. She was born July 16, 1855 in Shelby County, Kentucky, and is survived by several nieces and nephews in Kentucky. Mrs. Mary Lee, sister of Sam Loney, 10 West Oak Street, died Wednesday [April 1, 1931] at a local hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Lee who was 67, was born September 3, 1864 near the city of Ontario, Canada, came to Walla Walla county in 1882 when she was only 18 years of age.
