Dorothy Irene Dulin died Feb. 20, 2008.
She was born Jan. 13, 1918 in Spokane, Wash. to Olla Lee Gooch and John Fredrick Bachman. Dorothy grew up in Vancouver, Wash. and was the youngest of five siblings. She graduated high school and worked in a cannery before moving to southern California, where she spent the next 64 years of her life.
There, she met John W Dulin, a young man from Springfield Mo. They were married in Las Vegas, Nev. on Nov. 16, 1941, and recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. Dorothy worked in a bag factory and later at Grayson’s, running a drill press ,while John served in the Army during World War II. After John’s return, they were blessed with a daughter, Christina Lee Dulin, and a son, John W Dulin, Jr. They discovered the Lostin Valley in 1972 and, starting in 1976, spent ten years building a log house on the Lostine River.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, John; two children, Christina Dulin Geyer (and husband Chris) of Lostine, and John W Dulin Jr. (and wife Linda) of Chino Hills, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 10 great grand children.
Graveside service were held Feb. 25 at the Lostine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Cancer Society.
