Odell, James – Obituary

James Odell, for a number of years a resident of Union, died in Portland, Oregon, Sunday November 14, 1909, age 74 years, 10 months and 22 days. Interment in Portland. Deceased leaves a wife, Mrs. Minnie Odell; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Swackhamer; and a son, James Odell, of his immediate family, to mourn his loss. James Odell had been a sufferer for a number of years and his death was not unexpected. He was a man of considerable means, having been successful in stock-raising in the Rye Valley country. Friday night last at Union Junction, Sheriff Hug shot and probably fatally injured a man named John Keefe, of Moscow, Idaho, who, it appears, was en route to Baker. The attention of the sheriff was called by a passenger to a man who dropped off No. 18, carrying a bundle and hastening toward some freight cars. Flynn, Catherine Mrs. – Obituary

On Sunday afternoon Mrs. Catherine Flynn, 64, of Nampa, Idaho, was driving with Mr. Flynn returning to their home. In attempting to pass a car several miles east of Baker, the Flynn car ran into loose gravel, breaking one of the rear wheels turning the car completely over, killing Mrs. Flynn almost instantly. September 29, 1949 Waggoner Rites Held Funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church at Odebolt Thursday afternoon, September 22, 1949 for Mrs. A. B. Waggoner. The Rev. H. M. Burns officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Ray Wardrip with Mrs. W. G. Horstman accompanying. Interment was at the Odebolt cemetery. February 28, 1895 Chronicle – Odebolt The many friends of Henry Waggoner, who lived three miles west of Odebolt, were grieved to hear of his death, which occurred about 11:45 on Sunday night. He was taken ill on the preceding Tuesday with pneumonia, and from the first his condition was serious. Mr. Waggoner was one of the kindest and best men we ever knew and we not believe he had an enemy. Aunt Ellen Waggoner, a dear old lady who numbered her friends by the score, passed away last Saturday forenoon at her home in Odebolt, after a long illness. She had been confined to her home for several years with rheumatism, and later was afflicted with a disease of the kidneys. Charles Elsworth Nippert, son of George and Sarah Nippert, was born at Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, November 18, 1863, and died at his home in Galva, Iowa, January 5, 1942, having attained the age of 78 years, one month, and 18 days. He came to northwest Iowa in early manhood when it was still raw prairie and a part of the national frontier. At the age of ten years, he came with his parents in a covered wagon.
