Cosumni Tribe
The Cosumni Indians, likely a Moquelumnan tribe, once lived near the Cosumnes River in California. They were known for minimal clothing and constructed bark houses, often covered with earth. Their tools included stone hatchets for gathering bark and bows with stone-tipped arrows for hunting. Women crafted water-holding conical baskets from grass, and the tribe engaged in ceremonial dances and football for entertainment. They primarily worshipped the sun and practiced burial rituals. By 1904, the tribe was nearly extinct.
