In the following information all the names, dates and other essential particulars which appear in the returns to the Court in the County of Worcester during the entire period – a full half-century, from 1737 to 1788 – in which these entries were made, are given. The returns from each place have been brought together and arranged under the name of the town or district, in this case Brookfield Massachusetts.
Young, Russel T., Lincoln, South Starksboro p. o., was born in Starksboro, Vt., on August 22, 1844. He now owns and occupies a farm of 360 acres. He was selectman for two years and highway commissioner for two years. His wife was Mary Green, a daughter of Stephen Green, of Starksboro, Vt. She was born in that town on February 7, 1845. They have had a family of four children born to them — Walter H., Stephen, and Carrie. Walter H. is now a student at a school in Buffalo, N. Y.
Abstracts of over 600 wills for Vanderburgh County, Indiana, extracted by Mrs. Arthur C. Bitterman. Book A was typed by Mrs. James A. Gentry, book B typed by Mrs. Marvin J. Huff, and published as one by the Vanderburgh Chapter of the DAR. Book A primarily covers wills written or filed within the time period of 1823-1849 and book B includes the years of 1849-1873. In both cases there are wills that fall outside those dates.
Arthur, son of Stephen and Betsey (Greene) Young, married Laurinda Stull, who was born April 23, 1818, and died August 20, 1906. They had seven children. Mrs. Young’s ancestors came from Holland in early colonial days. Her father was Joseph Stull, and her grandfather Captain Jacob Stull, settled in Elmira in 1782, served as a captain during the revolutionary war and was an active participant in many of the most important engagements, among them being: Three Rivers, Van Nest Mills, Long Island, Trenton, Princeton, Germantown, Springfield and Monmouth. Young, Daniel R., Vergennes, was born in Vergennes, Vt., on July 25, 1849. He embarked in the general drug and prescription business in 1869, and now carries a fine stock of all fancy goods and drugs. He was a son of Philemon and Catharine (Roberts) Young, who were natives of Vergennes, Vt. They had a family of two sons born to them — Johnney and Daniel R.
ROBERT D. YOUNG was born November 5, 1845, in Logan County, Ky., where he grew to manhood. He removed to Todd County in 1870, where he has since resided. His father, Robert H. Young, was born near Petersburg, Va., and died in 1874, aged sixty-one years. He was the son of John Young, a native of Virginia, who removed to Kentucky about 1832, where he died. Young, Benjamin F., Vergennes, was born in Hanover, Morris county, N. J., on March 2, 1810. He has been the leading carpenter and builder of Vergennes, Vt., for many years, having erected many of its best buildings; and has been universally respected during his long life in this city. Being a history of the descendants of Richard Dexter of Malden, Massachusetts, from the notes of John Haven Dexter and original researches. Richard Dexter, who was admitted an inhabitant of Boston (New England), Feb. 28, 1642, came from within ten miles of the town of Slane, Co. Meath, Ireland, and belonged to a branch of that family of Dexter who were descendants of Richard de Excester, the Lord Justice of Ireland. He, with his wife Bridget, and three or more children, fled to England from the great Irish Massacre of the Protestants which commenced Oct. 27, 1641. When Richard Dexter and family left England and by what vessel, we are unable to state, but he could not have remained there long, as we know he was living at Boston prior to Feb. 28, 1642.
