Goehring, Lewis – Obituary

Lewis Goehring, 83, died at his home, 223 North Marion Street, Tuesday [October 22, 1935] at 7:30 p.m. after a long illness. He was a veteran grain merchant. Mr. Goehring was born in New York City, March 11, 1852, coming to this section of Iowa when he was 2 years of age. He was engaged in the grain business with Jones & Buchanan, later with the W. E. Mrs. Laura Alice Goehring, a resident of Ottumwa since 1879 and the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church here, died at 10:20 a.m. today [December 12, 1942] at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. W. Swanson of 223 North Marion Street. Mrs. Goehring was born November 29, 1859, near Columbus, Ind., the daughter of Michael and Agnes Bonwell. Huff, and published as one by the Vanderburgh Chapter of the DAR. Book A primarily covers wills written or filed within the time period of 1823-1849 and book B includes the years of 1849-1873. In both cases there are wills that fall outside those dates.
