Descendants of John Spence of Rockland, MA

John Spence, born in Ireland on December 12, 1834, emigrated to America in 1848 and became a prominent businessman in Rockland, MA. After starting as a shoemaker, he innovated in the leather industry, founding the Brockton Leather Company. Involved in local enterprises, he served on various boards and made a significant impact on the community until his death on December 21, 1902. He was married to Anne Foy and had several children, including James W. and John J., who continued his legacy in business.
