Biography of Rev. William Cochrane, D.D.
Rev. William Cochrane, D.D., born on February 9, 1832, in Paisley, Scotland, became pastor of Zion Presbyterian Church in Brantford in 1862. Educated at Glasgow University and Hanover College, he later attended Princeton Theological Seminary. Cochrane significantly increased church membership from 150 to over 600 and served in various educational and synodal roles. An accomplished author, he published three volumes of sermons and contributed to periodicals. Known for his clear, engaging preaching style, he valued simplicity and sincerity in his ministry. He was married twice and had two children.
