Cleveland was married to Elizabeth Canfield and worked as a stacker operator for Boise Cascade, serving as the president of the union local. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and his parents. A memorial service is scheduled for August 5, 2006.
Edward Spicer Cleveland was born on May 22, 1825, in Hampton, Connecticut, as the son of influential politician Mason Cleveland. Cleveland served as Hartford’s postmaster for eight years under Presidents Lincoln and Grant and was active in state politics, representing Hampton in the legislature and running for governor in 1886. After the death of his wife in 1889, he retired to Hampton, focusing on family and civic duties, including roles in education and mental health institutions.
