Biography of George W. Burling

George W. Burling, born March 12, 1858, in Canandaigua, New York, is the descendant of early Manhattan settler Burling, after whom Burling Slip is named. He began his career in retail before becoming manager at Ailing Cory Company, where he was later appointed secretary and assistant treasurer following its incorporation in 1908. A Republican supporter and active in the Third Presbyterian Church of Rochester, Burling married Helen Anna in 1881. They have two children: Karl and Margaret, both pursuing higher education.
