These marriage records were abstracted from unbound marriage bonds and licenses in the Liberty County Courthouse, Hinesville, Georgia. The names were copied as they were spelled on the bonds, often barely legible and often spelled differently on the same bond. Sometimes the marriages were performed before the licenses were issued. The first date given in the abstracts is the date of the license or bond; the second is the date of marriage. The following abbreviations are used in these abstracts with the meaning indicated:

Edmund Buckley, born April 25, 1839, in Yorkshire, England, is recognized as a pioneer in Idaho’s woolen industry. After immigrating to America in 1863, he settled in Utah and operated a carding mill. His ventures included factories in Brigham City and Logan before he established a successful woolen mill in Franklin in 1878. Buckley, a member of the Latter Day Saints, has contributed significantly to the local economy and community. He and his wife, Alice, have five children and remain active in both business and church.

Doris Buckley, born on September 18, 1931, in La Grande, passed away on January 25, 2007, in Phoenix, Arizona, at age 75. After attending school in Joseph and graduating from Huntington High School, she married Glen Buckley in 1949. They worked on ranches before relocating to California and later to Black Canyon, Arizona. Mrs. Buckley remained connected to her family in Wallowa County until her health declined. She is survived by her sister and two nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for February 10, 2007.
Robert Raymond “Ray” Buckley, 94, passed away on December 14 in La Grande, Oregon. Born on July 16, 1912, in Deer Lodge, Montana, he moved to La Grande at a young age and graduated from high school there. Buckley served in the Marines during World War II and the Korean War, worked for Union Pacific Railroad, and later for the La Grande School District. He was active in community organizations and is survived by his family. A graveside service will occur at Grandview Cemetery.

William O. Buckley, born July 21, 1844, in Warren County, Kentucky, was the son of J.H. and Levina Buckley. A carpenter and millwright, he began his career at sixteen and served in the Confederate Army for three years, returning home in 1865. Without financial support, he built a successful life, owning a thirty-five-acre home in Bivinsville. He married Cloantha Gibson in 1867, and they have one daughter, Mattie Lou. The family is actively involved in the Christian Church.
