Jack Yankey, Passes at Age 57
Haines Area Man Spent Entire Life in Area

Graveside services for Jack Albert Yankey, age 57, were conducted Saturday, July 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Haines Cemetery under the direction of the Langrell Mortuary. Pastor James Shaver officiated.

Mr. Yankey passed away Thursday, July 15 at St. Elizabeth Hospital after having been [in] ill health the past several years. He had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Dutch Aldrich at Rock Creek.

He spent his entire life working in the sawmills in Eastern Oregon, for the Grange Supply and for a time was employed at Frueholf’s in Portland. His last employment was for Gibb Curtis Wood Products in Baker.

He was married to Paula Barker of Huntington. He loved the outdoor life and fishing and was talented as a fiddler for the old time dances in the Rock Creek and Muddy Creek area.

He is survived by sons, Ronald and Kim, Albany, Oregon, Pat and Greg, Portland; daughter Lisa, Portland and one grandson; brother Keith Yankey, Rock Creek; sisters, Mona Aldrich, Rock Creek; Nena Davis, Baker and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters.
