Larie Lola Patterson Silva, 67, of Aloha and formerly of Summerville, died Aug. 9 at the Hillsboro Rehab and Specialty Care Center. A graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Summerville Cemetery. Tualatin Valley Funeral Alternatives of Forest Grove is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Silva was born May 4, 1939, in Sisters to Willis and Lorraine Patterson. They moved to Imbler, where she grew up, attended school and graduated in 1957. She enjoyed sports and was very athletic.
She attended college in La Grande, then moved with her parents to Portland, where she attended secretarial school.
She married Lee Silva in August 1960. They had two children, Sheri and Kirk. They divorced in 1995.
Mrs. Silva worked hard all her life, always taking good care of her children and their home. She spent most of her married life on a ranch and farm surrounded by a lot of pets. She loved dogs, cats, horses, goats and cows.
She was a loving wife and mother and also took care of grandparents in her home until their deaths in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Her most joyous moments were spent taking care of her grandchildren, which were the highlight of her life.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Jeff Meyerholz of Canyon City; a son, Kirk Silva of Bend; brothers and their wives, Jim and Neggie Patterson of Gresham, and Doug and Tammy Patterson of Oregon City; and seven grandchildren.
