Larry Malcolm Griggs , 81, of La Grande, died peacefully Aug. 22 at his home. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the LDS Stake Center on Gekeler Lane. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Larry was born July 5, 1927, to Edward Rex and Ruth Rawlins Griggs in Union. Larry was a veteran of the Navy and subsequently trained to become a certified aircraft mechanic and designer.
Larry was previously married to Veldonna Wardell, with whom he had two children. He married the love of his life, Lois Davidson Salkield, on March 13, 1973.
He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for much of his life, retiring as an engineer. Larry was an avid gun collector and loved cars, motorcycles and boating. He enjoyed traveling and especially loved visiting with family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Griggs; son, Dan Griggs and his wife, Kristine, of Alpine, Utah; daughter, Julie Feigleson and her husband, Mike, of Bountiful Utah; stepchildren, Julie Stickney and her husband, Duane, of La Grande, Greg Salkield and his wife, Anita, of Gresham and Susan Salkield and her husband, Les Goldmann, of Portland, eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Griggs Sr. and Ruth Rawlins Griggs; and brother, Edward Griggs Jr.
