Florence Belknap, 88, of Rt. 1, Box 160, Cove, died Tuesday at Valley View Manor.
Mrs. Belknap was born on July 4, 1890, at Hamilton, N. D., the daughter of Hugh and Mary (Millar) MacDonald. The family moved to Nyssa in 1900 where Mr. MacDonald had a homestead. Florence attended Monmouth College, graduating in 1914. She taught school in Island City, Alicel, Ladd Canyon and La Grande.
She was married to Edward D. Jasper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1936. She married Maynard M. Belknap at Lewiston, Idaho, in 1949. She moved to La Grande in 1972 after the death of Mr. Belknap.
Mrs. Belknap was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of La Grande and Laurel Chapter No. 13 Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sons, Dr. Donald Jasper, Davis, Calif.; Burdette Belknap, Pomeroy, Wash.; daughters, Mrs. Bud (Edna) Jones, Cove, Mrs. Malcom (Jean) Dawson, Joseph, Mrs. Wallace (Mary) Johnson, Salem; brothers, Dr. Gordon MacDonald, Riverside, Calif., Dwight MacDonald, Capistrano Beach, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and other relatives.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Barry Heath officiating. Interment services for he family will be held at the Island City Cemetery.
Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Florence Belknap to the First United Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in care of Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel, P. O. Box 772, La Grande.
