Marvin Deloy Dowdy, age 55 of Baker City, passed away Sunday February 15th at his home. Graveside funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 19th at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Mike Whitford from the First Christian Church officiated and interment followed in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Marvin Dowdy was born December 5, 1935 in Noelyville, Missouri to Adolph Dowdy who died in 1949 and Mabel Dowdy who died in 1980. Melvin attended Baker City schools. He was employed by the Oregon State Highway department for 35 years retiring in April of 1990. He succumbed to cancer.
Marvin is survived by his wife Sharon of Baker City, a son Sean Dowdy and his wife Louise of Camas, Washington, and a daughter Shannon Caldwell and her husband Jim of Eugene, Oregon. Also three grandchildren, four sisters, Larita Page of Vale, OR., Hazel Dima of Ketchekan, Alaska, Wanda Favorite of Dufer, Oregon and Darlene Ellsmore of Payson, Arizona. Seven brothers, Harvie and Ray Dowdy of Baker City, Virl and Lowell Dowdy of Phoenix, Arizona, Harold and Adolph Dowdy of Grande, OR., and Troy Dowdy of Elgin, OR. Also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Carrol in 1941.
