Henry Schaeffer passed away Sunday at his home in Wallowa after an illness that had developed into serious nature only two weeks earlier. He had been in poor health, however, for a much longer time and for a year had used a crutch and cane to get about. His physicians gave bright’s disease as the cause of death. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home and burial was in the Wallowa cemetery. Flora, Oregon Jeniece E. “Jenny” Cate, 57, died March 12, 2005, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash. She was born on Aug. 24, 1947 in Enterprise to Glenn (Blackie) McElroy and Jean Burleigh McElroy. Mrs. Cate grew up in Flora and Irrigon. She graduated in 1965 from Riverside High School and attended Blue Mountain Community College. She enjoyed reading, knitting, science fiction movies and cats. Enterprise, Oregon Julie Butner, 57, former resident of Enterprise passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Sept. 12 in Spokane, Wash., after a brave five-year battle with cancer. Henry Miller, an honored pioneer of Wallowa county, died at his home in Turlock, California, Sunday morning aged 73 years. No particulars of his death has been received. Mr. Miller was born in Virginia and cmae to Oregon 30 years ago. He was active in the upbuilding of this county and no man was mre highly respected. He served two terms as county treasurer. Enterprise, Oregon John C. Stein, 96, of Enterprise, died Monday 21, 1990, at the Wallowa County Nursing Home. He was born in Spokane county, Washington. At the age of 14, he moved with his family to Wallowa county in a covered wagon. On May 26, 1918, he married Alta L. Fisher of Wallowa. To this union twelve children were born. Belsher, Joseph – Obituary

Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Joseph Belsher died January.1st, 1919, at the open air sanitarium at Salem, Oregon. He went there from Wallowa County on June 24, 1918, for relief from tuberculosis of the bone. The deceased was born July 16, 1898, in Elk Creek, Texas County, Missouri. He came to Wallowa County in November 1914, and lived with his brother Forest Belsher, on a homestead in Crow Creek Pass. He was laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Salem, Oregon. Elsberry, Keith – Obituary

Lostine, Wallowa County, Oregon Keith Elsberry, six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Elsberry, died at Parma, Idaho, Wednesday, July 10, of spotted fever. He was a grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hedges, former residents of Lostine. The Elsberry family had been camping in the woods near Parma, when the child was bitten by the tick. He did not respond to medical treatment. Funeral services were held Friday, July 12, at Parma.

Wallowa native, James “Mike” Johnson, 69, died October 2, 1988 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. He had been a patient there since May. He was born September 12, 1919 at Wallowa, the son of Charles and Mabel (Fields) Johnson. Johnson attended schools in Wallowa, graduating in 1937.
