George P. Neiman, born in Pennsylvania in 1842, played a pivotal role in the development of Whitewater, Kansas. After an early career in education and a stint in California’s goldfields, Neiman settled in Butler County in 1869, becoming a successful farmer and stockman. He was instrumental in founding the town of Whitewater and organizing the Bank of Whitewater in 1891, where he served as its influential executive. Biography of Alma Whitlock

Alma Whitlock, born in Missouri in 1831, became a pioneering dentist in Southern California after starting his practice in San Bernardino in 1857. His family journeyed to California in 1850, and he later studied dentistry under Dr. Irwin in 1855. An inventive practitioner, Whitlock created valuable dental instruments and is noted for the durability of his work. He acquired land near San Bernardino and cultivated it, while his family grew to include four sons and three daughters. His eldest son is a distinguished law graduate.
