EDWARD W. COLLINS was b. in Paris, France, Dec. 25, 1813. No record obtained when he came to America. He came to Cornish from Croydon, in 1857 (?). He m. July 29, 1837, Delilah Forehand of Croydon, dau. of Christopher and Betsey (Walker) Forehand, b. June 11, 1819, and d. on Cornish Flat Sept. 29, 1903. PAUL J. WHEELER, son of Ceryl; born December 8, 1820; a merchant of Croydon; settled in Newport; was cashier of Sugar River Bank; was moderator five years, a representative four years, a candidate for Speaker of the House of Representatives in 1860; in 1862 was a candidate for Governor. He died in 1862.

Fred Moulton, a leading resident of Plainfield and the proprietor of a large grocery store at Lebanon, was born July 11, 1836, in Plainfield, son of Stephen R. and Sally (Noyes) Moulton. The Moultons have had representatives in Plainfield for four generations, men who have been prominent in the development of the town and closely identified with all the important events in its history. The first of the name to settle here was William, grandfather of Mr. Fred Moulton, who took up land, and cleared a farm, which is still in the possession of his descendants. LEANDER HOLBROOK, Son of Peter, and grandson of David Holbrook, was born April 11, 1815. The family came from Upton, Mass. His father, a merchant at the East Village, died in 1822. Elizabeth1 Winch, spinster, of Great Alhallows, London, in her will, made 1659, proved 1661, calls herself “bound for Virginia” and names her brothers Richard and John. VASHTI TOWNE, a sister of John, born May 8, 1813, was educated at Kimball Union Academy; taught school in her native town, three years at Norwich Institute, nine years at Portsmouth, Va., and fifteen years at Washington, D. C. While at the latter place she had under her instruction the sons of President Lincoln and also those of Presi dent Grant. She was an intimate friend of Mrs. President Fillmore who was a relative. She died in 1869 at Newport, NH.
