New Hampshire Bells
Matthew Bell, originally from Kirk Connell, Scotland, emigrated to Ireland and witnessed the siege of Londonderry in 1689. His youngest son, John Bell, born in 1679, moved to America around 1719, settling in Londonderry, New Hampshire, by 1720. John held various town offices and fathered nine children, several of whom left descendants. Notably, his son Samuel became a prisoner during the Bennington battle but died in Cambridge around 1803. John’s lineage included notable figures like two governors of New Hampshire.
