Andrew Crabtree, 80, a resident of the Maupin District for more than 43 years, died at his home there this morning. Mr. Crabtree was born in Jackson County, Mo., October 12, 1851, and crossed the plains by ox team with his parents, Job and Sarah [Constable] Crabtree at the age of two years. The pioneer party came by way of the Green River Trail crossing the Meacham Pass to Oregon. Joel Haden Chastain, 76, a life-long resident of Oregon, died at his home in Maupin, Monday night [July 4, 1949]. He was born Jan. 11, 1873, at Pine Grove. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Maupin with the Rev. H. J. Hardwick officiating. Spencer & Libby, of The Dalles, will be in charge. Chastain, Polly Catherine Crabtree – Obituary

Polly Catherine Chastain, a resident of the Maupin area for 83 years, died Friday [November 5, 1971] in a local hospital. She was 93. Mrs. Chastain came to Maupin when she was 10 years of age. She was born June 5, 1878, at Scio, Ore. Mrs. Chastain was a member of the Evangelical United Church of North America, the Rebekah Lodge, the Farm Bureau and the Old Wasco County Pioneer Association.
