Wright, Peter – Obituary

Friends here noted with sorrow the passing Tuesday at La Grande of Peter Christopher Wright, well known in North Powder where he spent much time in years past in the logging business. He contracted and delivered logs to the Jacobs brothers mill here and shipped many carloads to Milton-Freewater. Mr. Wright was born in Wisconsin and was 49 years of age. He moved to Union county when a small boy and has made his home here ever since. He is survived by his widow and three daughters and other relatives. La Grande, Oregon Lisa Lynn Simpson Collis Lanegan, 40, of Vancouver, Wash., and formerly of La Grande and Baker City, died suddenly Aug. 18 in Vancouver. The cause of death has not been determined. Gertrude Levy, 88 died in Portland, Oct. 15 after a long illness. Mrs. Levy was born in Baker Jan. 5 1889 to Mose and Hannah Fuchs. She attended Baker High School and St. Helen’s Hall, Portland. Her late husband, Gus Levy was a pharmacist in Baker and La Grande and raised horses in Baker. Donna “Fern” Culley, of La Grande and formerly of Wallowa County, died April 1, 2006, at the Grande Ronde Hospital. She was 90. Mrs. Culley was born on Sept. 15, 1915, to Arthur and Zella Millard Pearson in Enterprise. She was the great-granddaughter of David Kooch, who was an early pioneer to Wallowa County.
