Reta Conner Talbott, 79, of La Grande, died June 15 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church. Viewing will run from 4 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St., La Grande. A full obituary will be published later.

Reta Conner Talbott, 95, of La Grande, died June 15 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery. Viewing will run from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St., La Grande.

Reta was born April 29, 1913, to David C. and Louisa (Weaver) Conner in Hermiston. The family later moved to La Grande where she graduated from La Grande High School with the Class of 1931. On June 16, 1934, she married Herchel V. Talbott in La Grande.

She worked as a director with Union County Senior Services for many years. In 1981 she was a delegate from Oregon to the White House Conference on Aging, which is held in Washington, D.C., once a decade. After retiring she was active with Meals On Wheels and a monthly Skipbo Group. She loved working in her yard, gardening and being involved in church activities at Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Deanna Brickman of La Grande; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Donna Hunt in 2008; grandson, Kevin Hunt in 2006; brothers, Henry Conner and David Conner; and sisters, Hannah White, Catherine Anson, Bernice McKinney and Opal Broughton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Diabetes Association.
